Across the country, schools face a structural challenge:
Many students are disengaged, falling behind, or struggling with emotional and mental health needs that traditional school structures are not designed to address.
Large class sizes, fixed schedules, and outdated instructional models cannot provide the level of personalization and engagement many students require.
The result: students are often complacent, disconnected and passive, and struggle to find meaning in their effort.
This generation requires a new level of support navigating emotional trauma, neurodiversity and nervous system regulation.
Students are calling out for authenticity, empathy, engagement and belonging.
Children are craving hands-on learning and opportunities to make meaningful contributions to real-world problems.

Traditional district and charter school leaders feel constrained by the many bureaucratic structures inherent in a public school system.
Effective school leaders are acutely aware of the students they know need more support - but feel their hands are tied.
Many families know their children are not being served through a traditional model, and yet they have limited choices.
These families face a challenging set of options: pay for a high-priced private school; or take their chances in the charter system, which may have fewer resources to support their child’s specialized needs.
Schools and families know they cannot solve these programs on their own.

Public schools often lack the capacity to implement microschool innovations on their own.
Our why
Microschool Generation partners with existing public schools to build micro "schools within schools." We implement bespoke or turnkey “microschool within school” models.
We train and incubate the next generation of microschool founders and facilitators through our MicroSchool Leadership Credential as well as MicroSchool Incubator.
MicroSchool Generation exists to service this gap, and cultivate quality, accessible microschools
We work in partnership with both public and district school leaders - as well as emergent, independent microschool operators - to grow a network of microschools serving diverse and variable needs of children across communities.
Overall, we nourish emerging microschools through an ecosystem of shared services and supports, including legal, insurance, evaluation, training, enrollment, marketing, accreditation, etc.
MicroSchool Generation works in partnership with schools to imagine, incubate and integrate high-impact microschool environments, sustainably.
We also work directly with visionary educators who wish to launch microschool ventures of their own - with coaching, technical assistance, and backend support.
Together, we incubate relational, and personalized learning environments that allow students to experience potent academic and emotional growth.
In this way we generate new capacity within communities and school systems - to offer children transformational, liberatory micro-learning environments.

One important application of this model focuses on students experiencing chronic absenteeism or disengagement from school.
We design environments that address the emotional and nervous system dysregulation challenges that many young people are experiencing today.
This model offers a transformational pathway for youth who might otherwise enter highly restrictive alternative placements. For the cost of serving three students in a traditional (punitive) alternative school setting, a microschool environment can serve as many as fourteen students - for a year-long transformational experience that dramatically expands impact.
